A Dhaka court has sentenced 20-year jail to JMB operative Jahidul Islam Mizan alias Boma Mizan, who was snatched along with two convicted JMB men from a prison van in Mymensingh.
The court also sentenced five-year imprisonment to Boma Mizan's wife Halima Begum for carrying grenades and explosives.
Dhaka 4th Additional Metropolitan Session Judge Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan has passed the order on Sunday afternoon.
On February 23, Mizan along with two convicted prisoners Salauddin alias Salehin alias Sajeeb and Rakib Hasan alias Russel were snatched by the JMB operatives from a prison van in Trisahl of Mymensingh.
Mizan and Salauddin have been on the run since the snatching incident.
Police later recaptured Rakib Hasan who was later killed in a “gunfight” with police.
RAB arrested Boma Mizan along with his wife Halima from Mirpur and recovered huge explosives from their possession on May 15, 2009.
Boma Mizan, accused in 19 cases, was a resident of Shekhervita village under Jamalpur Sadar upazila. He was given 30 years jail for the Mymensingh cinema hall explosions, 20 years for illegal possession of explosives and lifetime jail in another case.
