Update : 18 May 2014, 09:38 PM

A case was filed against former RAB 11 commanding officer Tarek Sayeed Mohammad and four others for abducting and presumably murdering Comilla’s Laksam upazila BNP president Saiful Islam Hiru and municipality president Humayun Kabir Parvez.

Humayun’s father and Saiful’s cousin Rangu Mia of Fatehpur village filed the lawsuit against them with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Sabrina Nargis.

Magistrate Sabrina ordered the Laksam officer-in-charge to submit an investigative report on it. She also asked the police officer to secure the permission in advance to investigate the case against the suspended or expelled RAB officials among the accused.

Other than Tarek Sayeed, four RAB 11 members have been accused: Company Commander Major Shahed Raji, Deputy Assistant Director Shahjahan Ali, and sub-inspectors Kazi Sultan Ahmed and Asit Kumar Roy.

According to the case, Tarek and the four others stormed into the Bangladesh Flour Mills at Daulatganj, owned by BNP leader Saiful, at 9pm on November 27 and stole Tk14 lakh.

They later detained Saiful, Humayun and Jasim Uddin, who witnessed the incident, on their way to Comilla in an ambulance.

Of the three, only Jasim has so far been found as he was later handed over to the Laksam police while Saiful and Humayun remain missing.

The case also stated that Saiful and Humayun had a feud with local businessman and BNP’s rebel leader Mojir Ahmed over the upazila elections.

Saiful’s sisters Selina Akter and Mashrufa Islam and Humayun’s wife Shahnaj Akter were present during the filing of the case.

Tarek Sayeed is one of the three who have been withdrawn from RAB-11 and sent on retirement after the allegation surfaced against them for abducting and killing seven persons, including the Narayanganj City Panel Mayor Nazrul Islam in April.

Narayanganj Awami League activist Mohammad Ismail has been missing since February 7. His family claimed on Saturday that Tarek Sayeed has been involved in the abduction.

Lakshmipur Jubo Dal leader Iqbal Mahbub was murdered in Laskhmipur on Dec 12 and his body has yet not been found. On May 12, his family claimed that Tarek Sayeed had shot him in the head.
