Slain Narayanganj City Corporation Panel Mayor Nazrul Islam’s father-in-law Shahidul Islam demanded to hold the mass hearing on Narayanganj’s abduction and killing of seven people at Siddhirganj.
Shahidul said this before entering the circuit house to give deposition to the probe committee on Thursday.
He said: “People are hesitating to come to the circuit house in Narayanganj fearing Nur Hossain. So, the mass hearing should be held at Siddhirganj.”
The second phase of public hearing on the abduction and killing of seven people in Narayanganj has begun at the Circuit House of Narayanganj on Thursday morning.
On May 5, the High Court ordered an administrative investigation into the killing of Narayanganj Ward Counsillor Nazrul Islam, lawyer Chandan Sarkar and five of their associates.
The high-powered probe panel, formed with public administration Additional Secretary Shahjahan Ali in the lead, is now carrying out a mass hearing.
The seven people were abducted on April 27. Later their bodies surfaced in the Sitalakhya river. Autopsy report said they were murdered by professionals.
