Jubo League upazila Vice-President, Bashir Ahmed Manik, 30, was injured when some unidentified miscreants opened fire on him in the Pacha Market area of the Darbeshpur union under the Ramganj upazila in the district on Sunday night.
Ramganj police station Officer-in-Charge Lokman Hossain confirmed the incident.
He said the incident took place when Bashir was returning home from the upazila chairman’s house in the area at around 10pm.
Locals rescued him and rushed him to the Ramganj Upazila Health Complex.
He was later shifted to Dhaka when his condition deteriorated.
A youth was arrested in this regard.
