Birdem sues ASP Masud

The authorities of Birdem General Hospital have filed a case against four people including Dhaka’s Additional Police Super ABM Masud Hossain over attack on doctors and vandalism in the hospital following a patient’s death.

Md Manik Mollah, a senior security supervisor of Birdem General Hospital, has lodged the case with the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Sunday morning.

The hearing of the case will be held later in the day; the court of Md Mizanur Rahman has passed the order after taking the statement of the complainant.

Aminul Gani Titu, lawyer of the complainant, has told the Dhaka Tribune.

The three others assured are Ishak Hossain Babu, former APS of former state minister for labour Munnujan Sufian, Farhana Nasrin, a relative of the patient who died in the hospital, Avir Hossain, a BBA student of East West University. Some 20-25 unnamed persons were also accused in the case.

A patient named Sirajul Islam died in the Birdem General Hospital on April 13 due to alleged negligence of the doctors.

Following the death, some 20-25 people attacked the doctors and vandalized the hospital.

Later, the doctors went on strike protesting the assault on them and the vandalism.

Additional SP ABM Masud Hossain was withdrawn on Wednesday following a two-day work abstention by the physicians protesting the attack.
