A legal notice has been served on Shujan (Shushanar Janniya Nagorik) Secretary Badiul Alam Majumder for allegedly disseminating ‘incomplete’ and ‘exaggerated’ information of wealth statement of the Forest and Environment Minister, Hasan Mahmud.
Abdul Baset Majumder, the minister’s lawyer, issued the notice against the activist of the citizen pressure group, citing the report has caused ‘immeasurable losses’ to the minister’s ‘hard earned’ political and social image and impression.
The notice stated that Shujan intentionally didn’t mention the information on the liabilities and debt of the minister, which amount to ‘misrepresentation and misappropriation of truth.’
On December 27, Shujan released the report on the wealth statement of the minister at Dhaka Reporters' Unity.
The report of Shujan stated that the average earning of Hasan Mahmud has been increased to Tk203, 028,80 while the amount of his nit wealth is Tk152,391,870. However, the report did not mention anything about the liabilities and debt of the minister.
