Law Minister Anisul Huq's scheduled meeting with the justices of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has been postponed, a ministry official said on Wednesday.
"The minister was scheduled to hold meeting with the Appellate Division judges tomorrow [Thursday] regarding the service rules and conduct of lower court judges. Now the meeting will be held on the evening of November 16," Ministry of Law spokesperson Dr Md Rezaul Karim said.
Earlier on Sunday, the Appellate Division allowed the state time until December 3 to finalise service rules and conduct for lower court judges by issuing a gazette in this regard.
On July 27, Law Minister Anisul Huq handed Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha the draft of the service rules.
Following handing over of the draft, the minister had told reporters that as per rules the chief justice would go through the draft and send it to the president along with his recommendations, if any.
