Thermal scanners will be installed at all the ports including Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport within a fortnight to protect spreading of deadly Ebola virus in the country, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim has said.
The minister said this in reply to a question of a reporter at Lab Aid Hospital in the capital where he went to visit ailing Awami League advisory council member Suranjit Sengupta and Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif, reports BSS.
“Thermal scanners would be installed at airports, land ports and seaports as part of measures to prevent spreading of Ebola virus,” Nasim said.
He believed that there is no possibility of spreading Ebola virus, but he insured that everything is under the highest alert to check spreading of the deadly disease in the country.
"Process is on for procuring six scanners to detect the deadly virus. Out of the six, three thermal scanners will be installed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. I hope that we would be able to install the thermal scanners at the ports within a fortnight," he said.
He informed that some 25 teams have been working at different areas of the country to face spreading of Ebola virus.
About UN peacekeepers of Bangladesh Army Nasim replied affirmative to the reporter’s question saying: "All of them are well."
Senior Awami League leader Suranjit Sengupta was hospitalised on October 17 as he felt pain in his chest.
The minister inquired about his present health condition and talked with the attending doctors.
