Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen has commented that the standard of treatment will improve if the members of parliament go to local hospitals for check-ups.
He said MPs should seek treatment in their local hospitals. Then the confidence of the common people in the treatment of the country will increase.
The minister said these things in the discussion meeting of the hospital authorities and doctors on duty at the Chittagong Medical College (CMCH) hospital conference room on Saturday.
Samanta said: “It is my responsibility to monitor that patients get proper treatment, and it is also my responsibility to see that doctors also get protection while providing services. I must protect both patients and doctors.”
Dr Samanta Lal said: “If you help, then I will make the necessary efforts to solve all the problems of the hospitals. I met with the prime minister a few days ago along with the officials of the ministry, the DG of DGHS. There we showed the presentation on the health sector to the prime minister. There was a detailed open discussion. If we can work according to the procedure model that we have developed, it will be good for the health sector.”
Mentioning that people go abroad for treatment despite having the high quality of medical services in the country, the minister said: "Our Prime Minister takes treatment in the country."
Common people's confidence in the treatment of the country will also return if lawmakers go to local hospitals in their constituency for check-ups. As a result, people will not go abroad for treatment, said the minister.
Earlier, the health minister visited the Bangladesh China Friendship Burn Unit site of CMCH.
The minister visited the urology, pediatric, pediatric hematology and oncology departments of the hospital. After that he visited some health care centres including Chittagong General Hospital and Hathajari Health Complex.
