Health Minister Zahid Maleque said that people in Bangladesh are mostly vaccinated so the new variant of Covid-19 would not affect the people very much.
He told this to the journalists at an event at Bangladesh Thai Aluminium Ltd in Gazipur on Thursday.
He said: “98% of people in our country have received the vaccine, they are now very protected.”
The health minister said that people should be careful while travelling to the countries where the new variant has appeared. Everyone should wear masks.
“For those who have not yet been vaccinated, I would urge them to get the third and fourth doses of the vaccine to better protect themselves. We are trying to warn everyone to prevent Covid. All ports have been instructed to be careful. Campaigns are being conducted in this matter,” he added.
