France has donated another 2.12 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh under the Covax scheme.
The Emirates flight carrying the 3rd consignment of 2,126,100 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday, said a media statement.
With the new shipment, the total number of shots donated by the French government to Bangladesh has reached 5.38 million.
On November 19 last year, France sent the first consignment of 2.06 million AstraZeneca doses to Bangladesh.
The second consignment of 1.1 million doses of AstraZeneca doses was sent on December 19, 2021.
All three consignments were sent from France to Bangladesh as a gesture of solidarity to the friendly country’s fight against the pandemic.
The government of France has made the sharing of Covid-19 vaccines one of its priorities, in solidarity with the countries hit by the pandemic and in order to help accelerate vaccination coverage on a global scale.
