Chittagong recorded as many as 15 Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours till Tuesday morning, the highest single-day fatality figure to date, taking the death toll to 856.
Besides, after testing 2,537 samples, 925 people tested positive for Covid-19 during this period, officials said.
Among them, 553 are from the municipal area while the remaining from different upazilas.

Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said: “This scenario indicates a worsening situation for Chittagong district, if we don’t deem it as concerning now.”
According to the Civil Surgeon's Office, the samples were sent for testing to 11 laboratories in Chittagong and one to Cox’s Bazar Medical College and Hospital’s laboratory.
