Another 63 people died from Covid-19 in the 24 hours to Thursday morning, which is the highest single-day death in more than six weeks. On May 4, Bangladesh recorded 61 Covid-19 deaths.
With this latest data the overall death toll rose to 13,345.
Bangladesh recorded 3,840 new Covid-19 cases during the same period which took the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 841,087 and the single-day infection rate stood at 15.44%
As many as 24,871 samples, including pending ones, were tested at 528 authorized labs across the country.
To date, 6,267,657 tests have been conducted in the country, leading to an overall test positivity rate of 13.42%.
On the other hand, another 2,714 patients recovered from the infectious disease on the day.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the latest figures on Covid-19 in the country through a press release on Thursday afternoon.
Of the 63 deceased – 45 men and 18 women – 20 from Khulna, 13 were from Rajshahi division, 11 from Chittagong, 10 from Dhaka, three from Barisal and two each from Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh divisions.
Among them, 46 patients died at government hospitals, nine at private hospitals, and five at home.
Most of the deceased (23) were aged over 60, while 16 were aged between 51 and 60, 10 aged between 41 and 50, seven aged between 31 and 40, one between 21 and 30 , and three between 11 and 20.
So far, 9,588 men (71.85%) and 3,757 women (28.15%) have died from Covid-19 across the country.
Since the arrival of the pandemic in March last year, a total 7,331 people have died in Dhaka division, 2,557 in Chittagong, 837 in Rajshahi, 923 in Khulna, 396 in Barisal, 496 in Sylhet, 523 in Rangpur, and 279 in Mymensingh.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.59%.

Meanwhile, 776,466 patients — 92.42% of all infected — have recovered from Covid-19 across the country.
Currently, 28,193 people are in isolation and 49,330 are quarantined.
On March 8, health authorities in Bangladesh reported the first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus strain named Sars-CoV-2.
The novel coronavirus broke out in China's Wuhan city in late December 2019 and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
The fast spreading coronavirus had claimed 3,850,234 lives and infected 177,863,347 people across the world till Thursday afternoon, according to Worldometer.
As many as 162,371,663 people have recovered from Covid-19, which has spread to 220 countries and territories across the planet.
