The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on Sunday recommended the ministry to continue its effort to obtain the “AstraZeneca” vaccine from the US and India.
The committee also recommended the ministry to continue its efforts to ensure the supply of China’s Sinopharm vaccine, said a press release.
The parliamentary watchdog made the recommendations at its 20th meeting on Sunday, held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban under the chairmanship of Muhammad Faruk Khan.
The committee also recommended keeping the Bangladesh-India border closed due to the current alarming situation of Covid-19.

The meeting presented the latest status of receiving Covid-19 vaccine from different countries and mediums, an evaluation report of the celebration of the golden jubilee of independence, and the work plan of the newly appointed ambassador to Iraq.
During the meeting, the committee recommended to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take steps to inspect the situation of Rohingyas in Bhashan Char by the last week of May.
At the meeting, the committee recommended the ministry to strengthen trade relations with Iraq and provide all kinds of assistance to the Bangladeshi migrants working in Iraq, added the release.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Nurul Islam Nahid, Md Abdul Majid Khan, Md Habibe Millat, and Kazi Nabil Ahmed, members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Also, the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the newly appointed ambassador to Iraq, senior officials of the ministry, and the concerned senior officials of the National Assembly Secretariat were present, among others.
