Covid-19: 196,976 people get second vaccine jab on Thursday

Till now, as many as 7,088,469 people have registered for the Covid vaccine

A total of 10,572 people were administered the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine while 196,976 received the second jab across the country on Thursday.

Among the vaccine recipients who received the first dose – 6,890 were male and 3,682 female – while those who received the second jab – 133,655 were male and 63,321 were female –said a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) press release.

As of Thursday, the total number of vaccine receivers given the first vaccine dose stands at 5,686,885. 

Among them, 3,525,989 are male and 2,160,896 female. 

Besides, a total of 930,151 people received the second jab of the vaccine – 637,456 male and 292,695 female – as the countrywide vaccination campaign began on February 7.

People aged 40 and above now can get registered to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, Health Ministry sources said.

The vaccination drive was conducted at 50 hospitals in Dhaka city and 1,005 hospitals outside the capital on Thursday, the DGHS said, adding that the immunization program will begin at 8am and continue till 2:30 pm every day amid the lockdown.

But some hospitals will continue providing vaccine doses throughout the day, health officials said, reports BSS.

As many as 7,088,469 people had completed vaccine registration till 5:30pm on Thursday.
