Ruling party Awami League’s Presidium Member, lawmaker from Chittagong’s Mirsharai constituency and former minister, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, has been diagnosed with Covid-19.
His sample was sent to Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) in Chittagong on Thursday morning and the report came back positive on Thursday night.
The veteran parliamentarian is now undergoing treatment at a privately run hospital in the city.
Contacted, Dr ATM Rezaul Karim, managing director of Parkview Hospital, told Dhaka Tribune that the politician was brought to the hospital around 11:30pm on Thursday after testing positive for Covid-19.
“He is now in stable condition. We have put him under observation as he has been suffering from various old age related problems,” added Dr Karim.
The 76 year old politician is also president of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Housing and Public Works Ministry.
