Seminar held on building Covid-19-tolerant village

People may have to live with this pandemic for a long time, Badiul says

A seminar has been held on building “Covid-19-tolerant village” by The Hunger Project.

Delhi-based organization Local Governance Initiative and Network (LOGIN) organized the online seminar to highlight the works of The Hunger Project at 12:30pm on Thursday, a press release said.

At present, the activity is being carried out in 1,500 villages of the country and the initiative has been praised by many specialists, the press release added.

LOGIN Asia Representative Prita Paul conducted the seminar.

At the seminar, The Hunger Project’s Global Vice President and Country Director Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar spoke in detail about the project.

World Bank Country Director for India Dr Junaid Kamal Ahmad spoke at the seminar as a special guest.

Badiul said: “There is no vaccine for Covid-19 infection yet and the virus has already spread all over Bangladesh. We do not know when it will go away and we may have to live for a long time surrounded by this deadly virus.”

“From this understanding, experts and volunteers of the project are helping people understand the consequences of this deadly disease, and for that our volunteers are making people aware about the importance of washing hands, wearing masks, following the health guidelines given by the World Health Organization (WHO) and maintaining  social distancing.

“Apart from that, the volunteers are also collecting samplected Covid-19 patients and arranging places for them to self-isolate,” Badiul added.

“Through community philanthropy, money and food support are also sent to those in need,” he said.
