The number of Covid-19 positive cases crossed the 10000 mark in Chittagong with a record number of 292 new patients being diagnosed with the virus.
“The total number of Covid-19 patients stands at 10180 in Chittagong district as of today,” said civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi on Monday afternoon.
With six deaths on Monday, the number of Covid-19 deaths in Chittagong reached 205, he added.
These record numbers were reached after a testing of 1318 samples at six laboratories in the district in the preceding 24 hours.
Among the newly detected patients, 232 are from Chittagong city and 60 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
A total of 1,246 persons had been released from hospital after recovery from Covid-19 infection till on Monday.
Dr Rabbi said a total of 40 new Covid-19 patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at Chittagong University following testing done on 213 samples in the previous 24 hours
Six new Covid-19 patients were diagnosed with the corona virus at BITID, Chittagong, after a testing of 135 samples in the previous 24 hours.
Eighty-four more new Covid-19 patients tested corona positive at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after testing was done on 473 samples during the same period.
Besides, 46 new Covid-19 patients were identified at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Science University (CVASU) following tests on 224 samples, the civil surgeon said.
73 more corona patients were identified at the city’s Imperial Hospital after testing on 176 samples while 41 people tested corona positive after testing on 93 samples in the preceding 24 hours.
Two residents of Lohagara upazila were identified as Covid-19 positive after four samples were tested at Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital.
