The test-positivity rate for Covid-19 between Wednesday and Thursday stood at 21.89%, some 77 percentage points higher than the previous that was recorded in the last 24 hours.
Also, the latest rate translates into the ongoing trend of one in every five samples testing positive, which has been a regular phenomenon for the past few weeks.
On May 25, the trend of one in every five samples testing Covid-19 positive started for the first time since Bangladesh reported its first three coronavirus patients on March 8.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 18,362 samples were tested between Wednesday and Thursday mornings, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Additional Director General Prof Nasima Sultana said on Thursday during the daily Covid-19 online bulletin.
The rate is the outcome of 4,019 more people also testing positive for Covid-19, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 153,277.
Sharing the latest data, the DGHS official said that at present the total infection rate against the number of total tests was 19.10%.
Meanwhile, another 38 Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll from the deadly disease to 1,926 in Bangladesh.
Till date, 805,697 tests have been conducted across the country, Dr Nasima said.
