Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has allocated Tk 46.63 crore as a “special grant” for teachers and other staff members of schools and colleges, which have not been yet included in the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme, amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
A total of 8,492 educational institutions (schools, colleges) in the country’s 64 districts will benefit from this, as cash aid will be provided to them considering their financial crisis caused by Covid-19.
As many as 80,747 non-MPO teachers will be given Tk5,000 each and 25,038 non-MPO staff members of the aforementioned institutes will be given Tk2,500 each.
A statement was issued in this regard by the Education Ministry on Thursday.
For disbursement of the allotted cash aid, a database was prepared by collecting the updated information of a large number of teachers and staff members of EIIN-listed non-MPO educational institutions listed by the ministry.
The names in the list were later checked and sorted by the respective local administration.
Based on that list, the money received from the prime minister's special allocation will be distributed by the concerned district commissioners to the selected teachers and other school and college officials within this month.
