The daily percentage of people testing Covid-19 positive in Bangladesh has risen again on Tuesday with around 21% people testing positive for the second consecutive day after a slight drop on Sunday.
However, the overall positivity percentage is still below 20%.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 13,664 samples were tested in the 24-hour time span in different laboratories across the country.
Of them, a record number of 3,171 samples tested positive for coronavirus infection, which is 21.62% of all samples tested in the 24-hour span.
It was 21.13% on Monday, 20.88% on Sunday, 21.10% on Saturday, and 20.07% on Friday.
Of all Covid-19 samples tested as of Tuesday since January 21, as many as 425,595 tests have been conducted and 71,675 cases turned out positive, which is 16.84% of all samples tested.
Daily positive percentage was below 20% till May 24
Till May 24, the positive percentage in Bangladesh was below 20%. From the following day this upward trend continued except for May 27, May 30, and June 4.
The daily percentage of people testing positive for Covid-19 reached an all-time high, with 22.91% of the total number of samples tested in a day between June 1 and June 2 (reported on June 2).
As of Tuesday, the country recorded a total of 975 deaths and among the deceased, 45 recorded till Tuesday briefing — the highest toll of fatalities in 24-hour span from the deadly virus.
As many as 15,336 people recovered from Covid-19 as well.
