Chittagong customs official dies of Covid-19

The total numbers of Covid-19 positive cases rose to 3397 in Chittagong district till Wednesday

An official of Chittagong Customs House died on Wednesday of Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at a Dhaka hospital.

The deceased, Jashim Uddin Majumder, 55, was working as a revenue officer at Chittagong Customs House.

Nur-A-Hasna Sanjida, assistant commissioner of Chittagong Customs House confirmed the matter.

She said that the customs official died at 2:05am while undergoing treatment at Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital in Dhaka.

The deceased would be buried at his village home in Feni.

According to Chittagong Customs House, as many as 17 customs officials and employees have so far been infected with Covid-19. Of them, one died so far.

Another 206 more people tested positive for coronavirus at three Covid-19 laboratories in Chittagong in the last 24 hours.

The total numbers of Covid-19 positive cases rose to 3,397 in Chittagong district till Wednesday.

Bangladesh has reported 37 new deaths and 2,695 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.

With the latest figure, the number of total confirmed cases jumped to 55,140 and the death toll to 746.
