Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) received samples of Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) invented rapid Covid-19 testing kit “GR Covid-19 Dot Blot” on Wednesday.
GK scientists Prof Bijon Kumar Sil and Dr Mohib Ullah Khondoker handed over the sample testing kits and Tk435,000 as fees for an external validation from BSMMU.
Prof Saif Ullah Munshi, chairman, Department of Virology at BSMMU, received the sample kits.
Dr Mohib while speaking to Dhaka Tribune, said: “We gave them 200 kits and the fees required for external validation at 11am today (Wednesday). We will provide more kits to BSMMU, if necessary.
“BSMMU authority is very much cordial in this regard,” he also said.
BSMMU will match existing test results of patients’ blood samples using GK kits with PCR machine. After getting validation report from BSMMU, GK will go to the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) for final approval for mass production and use.
