An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has died of covid-19.
ASI RaghunathRai, 48, of DMP’s Public Order Management (POM) division passed away on Wednesday.
Police Headquarters Additional Inspector General (AIG) SohelRana confirmed the matter.
Till now six police personnel have lost their lives to Covid-19.
According to PHQ, the ASI was undergoing treatment at the Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital after he was infected with Covid-19.
Raghunath hailed from Laxshmipur. He left behind his wife and two children.
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 183 lives with a total of 10,929 confirmed cases, as of Tuesday.
Globally, 258,372 people died so far and confirmed Covid-19 cases stand at 3,728,879 in 215 countries at 1pm on Wednesday afternoon.
