Altogether 47 citizens have urged the general masses to form Gono(mass) committees to fight the coronavirus crisis in the country.
They made the call through a press release on Monday.
Nasir Uddin Ahmed Nasu, Jafar Hossain, Masud Khan, Hasan Fakri, BD Rahmotullah, Monir Morshed, Avijit Roy and Badol Shah Alom were among those making the appeal.
The 47 citizens urged progressive forces and democratic parties, especially the younger people in the country, to come forward to form the committees to battle the coronavirus crisis.
The members of the mass committees will ensure relief supply, health facilities for vulnerable communities as well as work to put an end to irregularities going on across the country, the press release read.
The statement also noted that although the sufferings of the common people were deepening day by day, the government was only according priority to affluent people over the poor.
