The local administration has put the Natore district under lockdown on Thursday afternoon following a surge in coronavirus cases among people there.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shah Riaz came up with the announcement around 3pm, Thursday. The restriction will remain in force until further notice, said the DC office sources.
A physician of Natore Sadar Hospital has been diagnosed with coronavirus, creating panic among the doctors and health workers of the hospital. Nine people, including the two health workers, were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Singra upazila on Tuesday and Wednesday.
With an increase in coronavirus cases, the local administration and Coronavirus Preventing and Controlling Committee took the decision to put the whole district under lockdown.
Earlier, the local administration has put Singra Health Complex and Singra upazila under lockdown as two health workers of the hospital have tested positive for coronavirus.
Nasrin Banu, upazila nirbahi officer of Singra, came up with the announcement on Wednesday.
