Another batch of ten prison guards of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj have tested positive for coronavirus, totaling the number to 14.
Confirming the development, Senior Jail Super Iqbal Kabir Chowdhury said: “They were infected with the virus while performing duty at hospitals.”
The infected individuals come from amongst 200 to 250 jailers who live beside the prison, he said.
“They have been admitted to different hospitals,” he said adding that all of them were aged between 30 and 55 years.

Earlier, another batch of four prison guards who were on duty at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) tested positive for Covid-19. They were also hospitalized, Inspector General of Prisons Brig Gen AKM Mostafa Kamal Pasha said on Saturday afternoon.
He said the affected guards were on duty at the DMCH for the last few days.
Coronavirus has so far infected 6,462 people and killed 155 people in Bangladesh.
Globally, the virus has infected 3,138,919 people and killed 218,010 people thus far.
