A deputy assistant director (DAD) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (Postogola zone) in Dhaka has tested positive for coronavirus.
A total of 31 members of the fire station were put under home quarantine by the authorities concerned on Tuesday.
Md Sajjad Hossain, director general of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “One of our members has been infected by Covid-19. We have tested those who are in home quarantine but none of them have tested positive.”
“Fire Service and Civil Defence will work 24/7 for people through maintaining proper safety measures required for dealing with coronavirus.”
As of Tuesday, Bangladesh had confirmed 6,462 coronavirus cases, with the death toll rising to 155 after three new fatalities were reported.
The fast spreading Covid-19 has so far killed 212,000 people in more than 200 countries and territories.
