Four prison guards who were on duty at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), have tested positive for Covid-19.
They have been sent to a hospital where only coronavirus patients are treated, Inspector General of Prisons Brig Gen AKM Mostafa Kamal Pasha told Dhaka Tribune, on Saturday afternoon.
He said the affected guards were on duty at the DMCH for the last few days.
The guards lived in a mess at Nazimuddin Road of Old Dhaka, near the Prison Headquarters, according to sources.
After getting the information, the jail authority has taken steps to test the other roommates of the affected guards.
However, contacted, DMCH Director Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin said: “I have no information regarding the issue.”
