Electricity and gas connections of their houses will be severed if landlords harass coronavirus infected patients or doctors, nurses, health workers, emergency service workers or journalists or anyone staying in home-quarantine.
The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources announced the decision on Monday, reports UNB.
Doctors, nurses, health workers and everyone concerned have been providing services as per directives of the government to curb the spread of coronavirus across the country, said a press release.
“But it’s heard that some of the house owners are harassing them to vacate their rented houses, which is unfortunate and inhumane,” said the ministry.
It is the moral and humane duty to stand beside the service providers and coronavirus-infected people, it said.
The ministry urged people to contact the control rooms of the electricity and gas distribution companies concerned to lodge complaints against the house owners.
