Update : 16 Apr 2020, 02:17 PM

Despite increasing the testing rate of suspected Covid-19 patients, Bangladesh still holds a poor position in this regard, ranking the second lowest among Asian countries.

With its neighbouring country, Myanmar, at the bottom of the list with only 52 samples tested for every one million people, Bangladesh is testing just 90 samples for every one million people per day, according to Worldometers.

The estimate is based on Wednesday’s count in Bangladesh, when the death toll and case tallies climbed to 50 and 1,231 respectively.

Bangladesh has been witnessing a steady rise in the curve with a whopping 24-fold increase in new cases in the first 15 days of April.

Meanwhile, at least 134,616 people were killed and around 2,083,326 were infected by the virus across the world till Thursday morning.
