Dhaka’s Mugda General Hospital will test, trace and treat (3T) patients of Covid-19.
The 3T model was introduced at the hospital on Tuesday.
A press release was issued in this regard by ruling party MP Saber Hossain Chowdhury, the hospital’s management committee’s president, on Wednesday.
According to the release, the hospital had signed an agreement with the Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF), which under the Dhaka Shishu Hospital has been conducting coronavirus tests efficiently in their high quality laboratory.
The samples collected by the hospital are being sent to CHRF for testing.
The foundation, after receiving the samples, does the tests, and sends the result back to Mugda General Hospital as well as inform the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) within 24 hours.
The hospital authorities have also installed a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine so that, when necessary, they can conduct and provide coronavirus test results faster.
The hospital is ensuring isolation of the infected patients and are also putting those who came in close contact with them under quarantine, the release read.
The confirmed cases later are being sent to the hospitals designated for Covid-19 treatment, the release added.
As of Wednesday, Bangladesh has confirmed 1,231 coronavirus cases with the death toll rising to 50 after four new fatalities were reported.
The fast spreading Covid-19 has so far killed 131,000 people in more than 200 countries and territories.
