Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that a win-win situation is necessary at cattle markets during Eid-ul-Azha so that both buyers and sellers are satisfied.
“However, it seems to me that, so far, buyers are happier than sellers. Moreover, as corrupt individuals are no longer in control this time, sales of large cattle are lower,” Jahangir said while responding to questions from reporters after visiting Kafrul police station and the Public Order Management (POM) Division in Mirpur on Thursday, reports Bangla Tribune.
The adviser said: “Traffic congestion in the Chandura area is slightly higher due to cattle transport. However, the police are actively addressing the issue. The inspector general of police (IGP) himself is overseeing the situation.”
Earlier in the morning, Jahangir visited the Gabtoli cattle market.
In response to a question from journalists there, he said: “Previously, there was money from corruption. Now, those corrupt individuals are no longer around, and neither is their money. That’s why there are fewer buyers of large cattle.”
He further said: “If everyone cooperates, the law and order situation will remain stable. The government is working to keep the situation under control.”
