Adviser: Interim govt lacks proper time to think about reforms

'A stable atmosphere is essential for thoughtful planning'

Update : 18 May 2025, 08:22 PM

Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud on Sunday said that although introducing reforms is a primary task of the interim government, it lacks the time to properly reflect on them.

“Our job is to carry out reforms, but it is hard to find time to think about them,” he said while briefing reporters on the outcome of the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held at the NEC conference room.

He noted that while the interim government is responsible for implementing reforms, it also needs time and a calm environment to think them through.

“A stable atmosphere is essential for thoughtful planning,” he added.

Wahiduddin also pointed out that the government has been inundated with various demands since taking office.

“These are not reforms, these are filling the discrimination, removing the deprivation, these are not reforms,” he said.
