46th BCS written exam scheduled for May 8

If a candidate has both the 44th BCS oral and 46th BCS written exams on the same day, PSC will provide an alternative date

Update : 10 Apr 2025, 02:10 PM

The written exam for the 46th BCS will be held on May 8.

However, if any candidate has both the oral exam for the 44th BCS and the written exam for the 46th BCS scheduled on the same day, the Public Service Commission (PSC) has said that the candidate should notify them, and an alternative date for the oral exam will be provided.

The PSC issued a notice with this information.

The PSC's notice said that the commission has carefully reviewed the demands of the students protesting for the postponement of the 46th BCS written exam.

The commission is currently required to take an integrated approach to resolve the backlog of various appointments, including the 44th, 45th, 46th, and 47th BCS, as well as non-cadre recruitment.

In formulating these plans, the commission has prioritized the candidates' overall preparation and the long wait they have endured.

The PSC also noted that preparing for major exams like the BCS, non-cadre exams, senior scale exams, and departmental exams involves significant challenges, including printing question papers, printing answer sheets, and determining examination centers.

Since the PSC does not have its own infrastructure, it collaborates with various institutions to safely and efficiently conduct these tasks.

Educational institutions allow their facilities to be used as exam centers while also considering their own scheduled exams like SSC and HSC, along with holidays. Given the need for many institutions to serve as exam centers, this process is complex.

Considering all factors, the PSC believes that the plan to hold the written exam for the 46th BCS on May 8, 2025, is not feasible to change due to the complexities involved with various exams including the 44th, 45th, 46th, and 47th BCS exams, along with non-cadre and other exams.

However, if any candidate has both the 44th BCS oral exam and the 46th BCS written exam on the same day, and informs the PSC, an alternative date for the oral exam will be provided.

The notice further emphasized that the attempt to unlawfully enter the PSC premises on April 8 by some candidates, who were protesting to delay the 46th BCS written exam, is highly undesirable. If such incidents occur again in the future, legal action will be taken against those responsible.

The PSC requests the cooperation of candidates and all stakeholders to overcome this situation.

In this regard, Dr Siam, the coordinator of the movement for the 46th BCS candidates, told the Dhaka Tribune: "The response from the PSC is very disappointing. The reasons they have provided are not logical. Therefore, we will gather in front of the PSC tomorrow at 12pm, and based on everyone's decision, we will take further steps."

On Tuesday, candidates held a protest demanding the postponement of the 46th BCS written exam. Later, the PSC authorities took three days to consider their request.
