Several decisions were made at the Advisory Council meeting held on Thursday morning at the Chief Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon.
The meeting was presided over by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
The meeting approved an amendment to the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and introduced revisions to the Public Procurement Ordinance to enhance transparency and competition in government procurement. A key change includes the removal of the provision that automatically canceled tender proposals priced below 10% of the estimated cost.
Additionally, the previous evaluation matrix, which enabled the same companies to secure repeated contracts, has been replaced with a capacity-based system to prevent syndicates. The government also decided to expand online procurement tenders from 65% to 100%.
A legal amendment was also passed to allow allottees of abandoned houses to register the properties under their names.
To facilitate public convenience, an additional Eid holiday has been granted on April 3. Furthermore, an optional holiday has been introduced for communities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts on their respective social and cultural observance days.
