PM Tarique Rahman to move into Jamuna residence

Professor Yunus to vacate state guest house as renovation begins; government bungalows allocated for ministers

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has selected the Jamuna State Guest House as his official residence, citing enhanced security arrangements and its proximity to the Secretariat and other key government offices.

The property, located on Hare Road in Dhaka, is currently undergoing renovation. Officials said the Prime Minister will move into the residence once the refurbishment work is completed.

Professor Yunus to vacate Jamuna on Friday

According to the Department of Government Accommodation, Professor Muhammad Yunus, the outgoing chief adviser of the interim government, is presently residing at Jamuna and is scheduled to vacate the premises on Friday.

Chief Engineer Md Khalequezzaman Choudhury of the Public Works Department said the Prime Minister has formally expressed his intention to relocate to Jamuna. Renovation work will commence immediately after Prof Yunus vacates the residence.

At present, the Prime Minister is conducting official activities from his residence in Gulshan. However, he has indicated plans to host Eid-ul-Fitr greetings and Ramadan iftar events at Jamuna following his relocation.

Government bungalows allocated for ministers

The Department of Government Accommodation has also allocated official bungalows in Minto Road, Bailey Road, Gulshan and Dhanmondi for newly appointed ministers and state ministers. 
They are expected to move in after renovation work is completed following Eid-ul-Fitr.
The allocations are as follows:
Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir — 35 Hare Road
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed — 24 Bailey Road
Liberation War Affairs Minister Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram— 5 Hair Road
Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain — 25 Bailey Road
Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaykobad — 7 Minto Road 
Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu — 2 Minto Road
Culture Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury — 5 Minto    Road
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman— 1 Hare Road
Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anne-6 Hare Road

Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, who previously served as national security adviser under the interim government led by Prof Yunus, will continue residing at 33 Minto Road following his appointment as a technocrat minister.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanum Rita — 1 Minto Road
Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain — 4 Minto Road
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan — 34 Minto Road
Posts, Telecommunications, IT and Science & Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam — 41 Minto Road
Prime Minister’s Adviser Md Ismail Zabiullah — 2 Hare Road

Additionally, Mirza Abbas and Nazrul Islam Khan have been assigned bungalows on Bailey Road.
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury: Gulshan
Labour & Employment and Expatriate Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury: Gulshan
Road Transport & Bridges Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam: Dhanmondi

The Department of Government Accommodation stated that ministers and state ministers will be able to move into these bungalows after the completion of renovation work, following Eid-ul-Fitr.
