No more unit differences: All police personnel to wear same uniform

DMP Commissioner announced uniform updates for police, RAB, and Ansar ensuring consistency across units

Update : 21 Jan 2025, 07:45 PM

The uniforms of the police force, as well as RAB and Ansar, are undergoing a change.

The Ministry of Home Affairs granted preliminary approval for these updates on Monday.

Going forward, police personnel across all units will wear the standard police uniform, eliminating the previous variations between units.

On Tuesday, during a meeting with the newly elected executive committee of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjad Ali shared these developments.

When asked whether the DMP uniform would also change along with the police uniform, the DMP Commissioner confirmed that updates to the uniforms of the police, RAB and Ansar were indeed underway.

He said that the Ministry of Home Affairs had approved new uniforms for all three forces on Monday and once the Chief Adviser gives the final approval, the changes will be implemented.

Although the overall police uniform is being updated, specific unit variations will be removed to ensure consistency across the entire force.

The DMP commissioner further said: “The police force comprises 2,00,000 members, along with 19,000 civilian staff.

Previously, different units had distinct uniforms, but with this change, there will no longer be any differences in uniforms across the units.”
