The Press Secretary of the Chief Adviser Shafiqul Alam on Sunday said the interim government will discuss the July Proclamation with political parties.
Shafiqul Alam made this comment at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy.
He said that talks will be held with political parties regarding the July Proclamation. However, a specific date has not been fixed yet.
Shafiqul Alam said: "We have heard a lot about the July Proclamation. Discussions are going on about it, it will also be discussed with political parties. We will see some progress on it in the future."
The press secretary also mentioned that a task force had been formed in November to investigate the Sagar-Runi murders.
"I have spoken to 25-30 new people. The PBI is doing a lot of work, and I am hopeful they will make significant progress. They are putting in a lot of effort."
He further said that the government will allow media workers to visit the "Aynaghar".
He added: "The interim government is giving the media an opportunity to visit the "Aynaghar," which was once a torture cell during the previous Awami League government. If you go there, you (media workers) will see how the previous government tortured innocent people by detaining them day after day."
"Many of the prisoners have written about their experiences of being locked up there day after day," said Shafiqul Alam.
Regarding the launch of BTV News on Tuesday, he said: "Although it is still experimental, we intend to expand it. We hope that BTV and BSS will be able to utilize their talents to present quality programs and news. They will also address issues in areas where they lack equipment. We have granted everyone their freedom. Everyone is free to exercise press freedom within the rules of Bangladesh."
