The government has announced measures to restore momentum in work and minimize delays by leveraging information technology, with the Ministry of Public Administration issuing five key directives aimed at officials within the ministry and field administration regarding the use of technology.
On Tuesday, the senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration sent an instructive letter to relevant officials.
This letter was disseminated to all departments and agencies under the ministry, as well as to all divisional commissioners, district commissioners (DCs), and upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs).
Officials are required to be more vigilant when using communication platforms such as WhatsApp, ensuring that compliance with and responsiveness to directives from senior officials is streamlined.
All officials must maintain continuous mobile network connectivity through broadband, Wi-Fi, or mobile data to ensure they remain connected. They are also advised to regularly check WhatsApp messages to facilitate the prompt implementation of instructions or advice from senior authorities.
The confidentiality of any government information shared via WhatsApp or other communication platforms must be strictly maintained.
Furthermore, any decisions or directives communicated through WhatsApp or other channels should be documented for future reference and verification.
Titled "Increased Activity in the Use of Information and Communication Technology," the letter highlights the potential for technology—especially WhatsApp—to facilitate the exchange of crucial information and streamline the decision-making process.
The Ministry emphasizes that effective utilization of information technology is essential for enhancing the efficiency of government operations and avoiding delays in work processes.
