The memorial ceremony, scheduled for Saturday to honour those killed during student movements, has been postponed.
Nahid Islam, the Information and Broadcasting, Post, Telecommunications, and Information Technology adviser, and a key coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, came up with the information while speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Thursday.
A new date for the memorial will be announced later, said Nahid.
The memorial event was originally set to take place on Saturday at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center, to remember those who lost their lives in the government job quota reform movement and subsequent anti-government protests during July and August.
The estimated budget for the event was set at Tk5 crore.
On Tuesday, Economic and Trade Adviser Dr Saleh Uddin Ahmed confirmed this information while addressing journalists at the Secretariat.
He also mentioned that international guests were to be invited to the event, and the guest list was being finalized by two student representatives on the advisory council, Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud.
