The government has appointed new deputy commissioners (DCs) for 25 districts including Dhaka and Chittagong.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday.
The other districts where new DCs have been appointed are Gopalganj, Faridpur, Sylhet, Habiganj, Mymensingh, Sherpur, Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Magura, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Naogaon, Natore, Pabna, Joypurhat, Cox’s Bazar, Bogra, Noakhali, Chandpur, Gazipur, Comilla, Moulvibazar and Khulna.
Tanvir Ahmed, deputy secretary of the Cabinet Division, has been appointed as DC of Dhaka; Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Mollah, deputy secretary attached to the Economic Relations Division, has been assigned to Faridpur; PKM Enamul Kabir, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, to Sylhet; Dr Md Faridur Rahman, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, to Habiganj; Mufidul Alam, deputy secretary at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, to Mymensingh; Tarfadar Mahmudur Rahman, deputy secretary of the Health Services Division, to Sherpur; Farhana Islam, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, to Kushtia; Mohammad Abdul Awal, director (deputy secretary) of the Anti-Corruption Commission, to Jhenaidah; and Md Ohidul Islam, deputy secretary of the Economic Relations Division, has been appointed as DC of Magura.
Additionally, Muhammad Rabiul Faisal, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, has been appointed as DC of Rangpur; Choudhury Muazzam Ahmed, deputy secretary of the Cabinet Division, to Gaibandha; Mohammad Mofizul Islam, deputy secretary of the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division, to Pabna; Hosna Afroza, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, to Bogra; and Md Saiduzzaman, director of the Basic Infrastructure for the Hi-Tech City-2 Project, has been appointed as DC of Joypurhat.
Further appointments include Mohammad Salahuddin, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to Cox's Bazar; Farida Khanom, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, to Chittagong; Estiaque Ahmed, deputy secretary of the Cabinet Division, to Noakhali; Mohammad Mohoshin Uddin, deputy secretary of the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division, to Chandpur; Nafisa Arefin, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, to Gazipur; Md Amirul Kyser, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, to Comilla.
Moreover, Israil Hossain, chief executive officer of the Barisal City Corporation, is the new DC of Moulvibazar; Md Saiful Islam, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, of Khulna; and Muhammad Kamruzzaman, director of the Dhaka Hajj Office, is DC of Gopalganj.
Following the formation of an interim government on August 8, after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, officials appointed during the Awami League's tenure began to be withdrawn.
On August 20, the Ministry of Public Administration issued separate notifications withdrawing 25 DCs.
The ministry reported that oral examinations had been conducted over the past few days to finalize the fit list for the appointment of new DCs.
