The government has decided not to use honorific terms such as “Excellency” and “Honorable” before the titles of the president, prime minister, ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers in official communications, documents and summaries.
The General Administration Wing of the Cabinet Division issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.
Signed by Deputy Secretary Tania Afroz, the circular said the government has decided not to use the words “Excellency” and “Honorable” in written form as honorifics before the titles of the president, prime minister, ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers in official communications and while presenting documents and summaries.
It also requested all ministries and divisions, as well as their subordinate offices, to refrain from using “Excellency”, “Honorable” or any other honorific terms before the titles of the president, prime minister, ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers in official communications, documents and summaries.
The circular said the matter was of “utmost urgency” and that the decision would take effect immediately.
