State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said foreign travel for ICT Division officials and employees has been cancelled till June 30 as an austerity measure.
He was speaking at a meeting in the conference room of the Information and Communication Technology Division in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday.
Palak said: “We want to bring some changes from the first day, where frugality will be key. We want to stop wasting time, talent and money.”
“The inflow of remittances should be increased. The outbound flow that is in our control… we have to save foreign currencies.”
Palak emphasized bringing transparency in the procurement process of the government.
“We need to ensure more transparency, more systematic approach, more accountability in the procurement process, so that no syndicate is created in the procurement process of the government and time is not wasted in project implementations.”
“Industry leaders will counsel us and provide recommendations to enhance export profits, attract investment and generate jobs,” he added.
