All scheduled Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) examinations have been suspended until March 31 because of the coronavirus outbreak, said BPSC Chairman Dr Muhammed Sadique.
Education Minister Dipu Moni also announced earlier in the day that all educational institutions of the country are to remain closed till March 31.
The decision followed the announcement that three new coronavirus patients, including two children, have been detected in the country. This announcement from Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora, director of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), confirmed that the virus has started transmitting locally.
Bangladesh has recorded eight coronavirus cases so far.
The death toll from coronavirus reached 6,516 globally as of Monday. It has so far infected 169,552 people around the world, according to worldometer.
