Iran on Wednesday conveyed to Bangladesh that there is “no problem and difficulty” from Iran’s side regarding the shipment of LNG, gas and fuel to Bangladesh, while blaming the US for creating difficulties surrounding energy supplies.
“From the side of Iran, there is no problem and difficulty for shipment of your LNG, gas and fuel,” Ambassador of Iran to Bangladesh Dr Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi told reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs while responding to questions from journalists.
He identified what he described as two major realities behind the continuation of the difficulties - the impact of US attacks and the continuation of what he called the American blockade against Iran.
“From the side of Iran, there’s no problem. The problem is caused by Americans,” the Ambassador said.
Earlier, he paid a courtesy call on State Minister-1 for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir. During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest.
The state minister expressed Bangladesh’s hope for an early end to tensions in the region and for lasting peace and stability, in the interest of the people of the region and beyond, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
US forces struck Iranian rocket launchers on the Strait of Hormuz in their first military action in a month on Sunday, breaking a lull in fighting during an intermittent war that has lasted more than six months, reports AP.
Vowing to retaliate for what it called a deadly attack, Iran later said it had launched missiles at U.S. sites in Jordan.
The Iranian ambassador also alleged that Iranian civilians have been killed in US attacks and urged people around the world to remain aware of what he described as the killing of Iranian people by the United States.
Referring to an attack on a wedding ceremony the previous night, he alleged that more than 70 people were wounded, including women and children.
“Many children and women were injured,” he said.
The Iranian envoy also said Iran had communicated to officials at Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Tehran had no objection to the continuation of energy shipments to Bangladesh.
He said that from Iran’s side, people are allowed to carry out activities and that there is no restriction from Tehran’s end, while again stressing that the difficulties are being created by the United States.
