UK keen to support capacity building in Bangladesh Police

The IGP has also sought cooperation in advancing reform initiatives, among others

British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke on Wednesday expressed the United Kingdom’s interest in supporting capacity building within Bangladesh Police during a meeting with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir at the Police Headquarters.

Congratulating the newly appointed IGP, she highlighted potential areas of cooperation, including training to combat organized international crime, irregular migration, human trafficking, money laundering, visa fraud, and the verification of fraudulent documents.

The high commissioner also expressed interest in sharing experience on police reform.

Welcoming the UK’s interest, the IGP outlined Bangladesh Police’s short-, medium-, and long-term reform plans and sought cooperation in strengthening capacity and advancing reform initiatives.
