The United States has welcomed Bangladesh for becoming a signatory of the Artemis Accords.

In a statement on Thursday, the spokesperson of the US Department of State extended this congratulation.

Bangladesh officially became the 54th nation to join the Artemis Accords during a ceremony at the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Representing the government of Bangladesh, Md Ashraf Uddin, secretary of the Ministry of Defence, signed the agreement in the presence of Tracey Jacobson, the US charge d’affaires to Bangladesh.

This milestone marks a new chapter in the more than five-decade-long partnership between Bangladesh and the United States, the statement said.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to fostering economic progress and enhancing regional security across the Indo-Pacific.

By joining the Artemis Accords, Bangladesh signals its intent to collaborate with an international coalition dedicated to the peaceful and responsible exploration of outer space, it added.

Launched in 2020 by the United States along with seven other founding countries, the Artemis Accords outline a set of guiding principles for sustainable civil space activities.

With this recent addition, the Accords now bring together 54 signatory nations, including countries such as Australia, Canada, France, India, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.
