The Ministry of Youth and Sports has decided to construct sports hubs in the country's eight divisions with financial assistance from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain disclosed the matter on Sunday at the National Stadium in Dhaka while distributing prizes at a friendly football tournament for underprivileged children, marking National and International Sports Day.
"We initially communicated the matter with China and finally settled the issue with the UAE. Now we are working on it and hope to start work in the next fiscal year," he said.
Asif also said: “Besides, the National Sports Council (NSC) has land in the Gulshan area of the capital, which was occupied by some miscreants."
"Now we are ready with proper documents to reclaim the land and build federation office and sports facilities there,” he added.
Earlier, the Ministry of Youth and Sports arranged a colourful rally in the capital in the morning on the occasion of National and International Sports Day.
