Nine officers, staff and their family members working at the Bangladesh consulate in trouble hit Sittwe in the Rakhine state of Myanmar, have arrived in Yangon.

Six arrived in Yangon on Tuesday and three earlier on Sunday.

In this regard, Bangladeshi Ambassador Manowar Hossain told the media over phone that the Bangladeshis have been evacuated due to security reasons. They are all staying in Yangon and are doing well.

Besides, local employees are staying at the Bangladesh Mission in Sittwe and the Myanmar authorities have been informed in writing to provide them security, said the ambassador.

Earlier, a senior official of the foreign ministry told Dhaka Tribune on Monday that they have started the process.

"We hope to take all our staff at the consulate by Tuesday," the official said, adding that they would work from Yangon where the Bangladesh embassy is located.

India and Bangladesh, which have borders with Myanmar, have the consulates in Sittwe.

The Arakan Army is fighting against the government forces in the Rakhine state.

Myanmar border police, BGP, took shelter in Bangladesh. Mortal shells also fell inside the Bangladesh border in which two people were killed and many more injured.
